and answer questions #1,2, and 4 ONLY--if you did not finish yesterday's questions on the piece by Zora Neale Hurston you may do so as well

1. How does Sedaris’s selection of detail in the first paragraph establish a humorous tone?

First we will the 3rd passage (page 198) and go over questions 26-24 together---if you have not finished the rest at this point do so over the weekend and I will give the answers on Monday.

Second, we will look at writing question #2 (page 214) and review how to write the rhetorical analysis. (remember more writing strategies does not equal a better grade)

n the second essay, you’ll be presented with an excerpt from a nonfiction piece that advances an argument and asked to write an essay analyzing the rhetorical strategies used to construct the passage’s argument. You will also be given some orienting information—where the passage was excerpted from, who wrote it, its approximate date, where it was published (if at all), and to whom it was directed.
