Writing a Rhetorical precis (again)

  • We will look at sources E and F together.
  • You will then take the remainder of class to read the remaining articles and annotate if needed (C, D, G, and H)
  • When you are finished you will choose your "strongest" article and complete a rhetorical precis on that source--turn it in before you leave today.

Note: If you feel like the period is coming to an end and you will not finish reading, take the last ten minutes to write your precis on an article you have completed and finish the rest at home.

Please see the notes about assignments and scheduling below:

1. Your A Raisin in the Sun essays are now past due
2. You were supposed to finish a practice argument essay the last week/over break--technology's effect on education--due today
3. We will spend the next two weeks preparing for the AP exam (remember even if you aren't taking it you are still responsible for the assignments)
4. Today we will begin with the essay on the college admissions scandal that has recently hit the news---we will work on it for the rest of this week

Tuesday, April 16, 2019

At this point we need to spend the next few weeks preparing for the AP exam (May 15th--all assignments count towards Q.4 grade regardless if you are taking it or not)

1. A friendly reminder---your A Raisin in the Sun essay is due by 4/18--we will be in the lab the next two days (Wed./Thurs.) if you want to type of look up quotes.
2. We will also be working on the argument essay on the effect of technology on education--I would like this by the end of class on 4/18 or IMMEDIATELY upon your return from spring break.

PLEASE STAY BUSY AND WORK ON SOMETHING!!!!!!!

Plays often show us the psychological or moral development of a protagonist when he/she recognizes his or her place in the world.

Today's assignment: (should be completed in class):
  • Select a single pivotal moment in the psychological or moral development of the protagonist of in A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry (Walter most likely)
  • Then write a well-organized response that analyzes how that single moment shapes the meaning of the work as a whole.--2-3 paragraphs
